Simon Story
One day when I was on holiday
with a group of Friends, I went down to the beach at six thirty because I had
woken up very early I hadn’t been able to get back to sleep.
It was a beautiful morning.
The sun was rising in the sky and the waves were breaking on the shore. A few
joggers were running up and down the beach and some fishermen were just coming
back from a night’s fishing. It looked absolutely beautiful.
I took a surfboard and
paddled out into the bay and then I just laid on my surfboard for a bit
thinking about life. I fell asleep. When I woke up and looked around, I got
quite a shock because I had drifted a long way from the beach and I couldn’t
get back.
I decided to use my mobile
phone to get help and then I realised that I had left it back in my room. And
that was when I started to feel quite frightened.
My friends found me in the
afternoon. They had looked for me all morning and about lunchtime they had
become very anxious. They called the air sea rescue service and a helicopter
pilot saw me about two hours later.
And the moral of the story?
Always tell your friends where you are going and don’t fall asleep on
surfboards!

5. For next class, be prepared to read your classmates' recounts and do peer-correction with the following rubric:
Peer correction activity: Read your classmate’s recount and evaluate it taking into account the following rubric. Analyze each criterion and recognize the problems of the text. Write the specific mistake and try to correct or write a comment about it. Give each criterion a percentage. Being 2.5 points the lowest score and 10 points the highest. Finally, sum up and write the total score. The maximum score is 50 points.
